Fig Jam

Washed and ground figs
1/2 as much sugar as figs
1 Tbsp. lemon juice for each two cups of figs

Combine ingredients and cook until thick, about 2 hours. Put in hot clean jars.  Seal.  Process 20 minutes in boiling water.  For flavored jam, add 1 package Jell-O in desired flavor for every four cups figs when cooking.  Count Jell-O as part of sugar.
