Waffles

4 eggs, separated
2 cups milk
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
3 cups sifted flour
1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter

Using mixer, beat egg whites until stiff.  Remove egg whites to another bowl.  In mixing bowl, beat egg yolks, then add milk and beat well.  Add dry ingredients to mixture in bowl, flour last.  Add melted butter, and mix until thoroughly blended.  Fold in egg whites.  Bake in hot waffle iron until golden brown.  Makes 12 (4 inch square) waffles.  Serve with butter and real maple syrup.

No more Bisquick waffles or frozen stuff.  You haven't tasted real waffles until you've eaten these crispy, melt-in-your-mouth cakes.
