I have been adding recipes for a while to a new cookbook so I could find them when I wanted to cook them. In the electronic age, a digital version seems to make more sense, since I can add, amend, advise, adjust, delete, and reconsider as often as I want to and you can access them if and when you please. I've included the recipes from my original cookbook which many of you have. I'm also going to be adding pictures as I retest many of these recipes. They aren't the latest thing or nouvelle cuisine. They're comfort food, good memories, treasured family recipes, and occasional treats as well as many healthier recipes I've grown to like in recent years. I encourage you to add comments, pictures, and favorite recipes to make this a real family cooking spot. It's the next best thing to sharing a meal.

White Wine Cake

1 box white cake mix with pudding
1 (3 oz.) box vanilla instant pudding
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup oil
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 eggs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup white wine
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup chopped pecans

Mix all together except last two ingredients. Spray Bakers Joy on bundt or tube pan. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and pecans and sprinkle on bottom of pan. Pour cake batter in pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 10 minutes.

GLAZE:

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup white wine

Ten minutes before cake is done, bring to a boil butter, sugar, and milk. Remove from heat and add wine. When cake is done, remove from oven. Pour half glaze over cake while in pan and let sit for 10 minutes. Turn cake out onto plate and slowly pour remainder of glaze over cake.

This recipe came from my friend Cathy Schoenfeld. She gave me one for Christmas. It was delicious, but since I didn't need all that cake around to tempt me, I took it by Mike's house. No one was home, so I left it. When they returned home, they ate it so fast, it was all gone before they even figured out where it came from.
