I have been adding recipes for a while to a new cookbook so I could find them when I wanted to cook them. In the electronic age, a digital version seems to make more sense, since I can add, amend, advise, adjust, delete, and reconsider as often as I want to and you can access them if and when you please. I've included the recipes from my original cookbook which many of you have. I'm also going to be adding pictures as I retest many of these recipes. They aren't the latest thing or nouvelle cuisine. They're comfort food, good memories, treasured family recipes, and occasional treats as well as many healthier recipes I've grown to like in recent years. I encourage you to add comments, pictures, and favorite recipes to make this a real family cooking spot. It's the next best thing to sharing a meal.

BBQ Chicken

1 cup Kraft Italian dressing
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
3 Tbsp. soy sauce
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
Dash liquid smoke

Mix ingredients.  Marinate chicken for one hour or more.  Drain, reserving marinade.  Grill or place in shallow baking pan and bake for 15 minutes at 475 degrees.  Reduce oven to 325 degrees and bake for 1 hour or more until done.  Baste with marinade occasionally.

When Donald and I were first married, we ate a lot of cheap chicken marinated in this sauce and cooked on the grill.  When I met Donald he was living on Isabelle Drive with Jim Thorne, E. G. Bird and Tom Dunaway.  Chicken on sale was 29 cents a pound.  A whole chicken was less than $1.  When they had a party, you could count on eating chicken grilled and basted with this marinade.  It’s still good.
